Handmade, in Spain
Every piece is born of a dialogue between craft, time and fire. Across eighteen stages and three firings, different specialist hands shape, decorate and glaze the earthenware before it receives the hallmark certifying its origin at La Cartuja de Sevilla.
Since 1841, every La Cartuja piece is born of a precise sequence of hands, fire, glaze and memory
Fine earthenware is not understood by its shape alone, but by the time it holds: the mould, the hallmark, the firing, the inspection and the final gesture.

Glazing
It all starts with liquid clay: quartz, kaolin, feldspar, silica, clay and sand. The house's master formula, refined until no air remains.
Flatware is pressed; hollowware is slip-cast in plaster moulds. The silhouette is born before the decoration and decides how the table will be lived.
After drying and fettling, sixteen hours in the kiln turn it into biscuit: white, hard and porous. It is now earthenware, ready to receive its identity.
A first inspection decides which pieces continue. The chosen ones receive the La Cartuja hallmark by hand screen-printing, one by one.
La decoradora transfiere el dibujo a mano sobre el bizcocho. Una segunda cocción a 800°C fija el color: así nace Aurora 202 Rosa.
Dipped in glaze piece by piece, a third firing turns that powder into glass. Shine, transparency and colour protected forever.

Eighteen stages. Up to eight inspections
Each piece goes through eighteen production stages, up to eight of which are inspections. Only earthenware that passes every check, at biscuit stage and when finished, sees the light of day and reaches your table.
Uncompromising quality
Up to eight inspections reject any piece that does not meet the house's standard.
